Heroes Fund Services of the American Red Cross
Volunteers Conduct March Fund Drive
The Midland Empire Chapter conducted its Heroes for the American Red Cross Fund Drive during March and April. The campaign goal was $100,000 and as of April 20th the Heroes Campaign has raised $86,000.
Seventy Red Cross Heroes from across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas each committed to raising $1,000 to $3,000 for the Red Cross to carry out its mission. The funds will provide disasters relief and Armed Forces emergency services. The 70 Heroes asked others to join their Hero Team with a donation to the Red Cross.
This year Frank and Salli Freudenthal were the Honorary Chairs of the Heroes for the American Red Cross campaign. “Frank and Salli are community heroes for their passion of family, church and business in the St. Joseph community. The Red Cross is honored to have these community heroes support the Red Cross and our work,” stated Kevin Kirby, Chapter Executive Director.
The Red Cross has to raise about $337,000 each year for its local services. That represents 35% of its $953,000 budget. The Red Cross also receives about 28% of its budget from United Way.
Red Cross services help, on average, over 80 people each day in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas . One out of eight people receive a Red Cross service each year in our area. The Midland Empire Chapter serves ten counties in Northwest Missouri and three counties in Northeast Kansas with over 400 volunteers annually.
